Dancing Our Way
Thursdays at 11-11:45 am EST | April 10 – June 26
In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence? – Gabrielle Roth
Dancing Our Way is a weekly movement practice with Rehana to resource ourselves and find our way through the challenging times we’re in. It’s a space to be use movement as a life practice for honing the self as instrument, increasing our capacity to self-regulate, ground in our body’s wisdom, and more connected to our visions and unique medicine for the world.
Rehana comes from an ancestral line of dancers that used movement to move through grief, rage, loss, and joy. They came together to dance through life so that their bodies could process the experience, rather than store it as trauma in the body. What we know from Buddhism, Indigenous wisdom, and science of the nervous system is that what we don’t transmute, we transmit.
The systems of the world live within us. They have been transmuted through our cultural conditioning, and are embedded in our bodies, passed down through generations—through the womb, through the air we breathe. This is an invitation to come home to the body and take personal responsibility for what we feel, what we carry – so we can show up in our relationships with more congruence for the wellbeing of life, in all its multiplicity on this planet.
Through movement, we access embodied wisdom, allowing us to:
Regulate the nervous system.
Make grounded decisions and access intuition.
Process grief, rage, joy, and all emotions.
Move through blocks and stuckness
Vision new futures
Come home to the present moment and what’s alive within us
Drop-ins welcome. No movement experience required.
